Put up my tree tonight, and when I was rummaging through the decorations, I came across my tree-topping angel. It put me in mind of how my dad used to tell this story every Christmas.

Once upon a time Santa was having a very rough day. The elves were on strike, Mrs. Claus had her mother visiting, the reindeer all had head colds and the computers were down so he was back to sorting the naughty/nice lists by hand. It had been just a terrible day all around.

Just at the moment when the chaos in Santa�s workshop was at its worst, the doorbell rang. It was an angel, who had a Christmas Tree delivery� C.O.D. She said,

�hey, Santa� Where do you want me to put this tree?�

And that is why I have an angel on my Christmas tree.
